Experience Report on the Adhesive Practitioner Course

Adhesive Practitioner Course as a Solution to reduce Sources of Error and improve Quality

Adhesive Bonding Practitioner Course as a Solution for Reducing Error Sources and Improving Quality – A Field Report.

As part of its personnel qualification program according to the DVS®/EWF guidelines, Innotech Marketing und Konfektion Rot GmbH, in cooperation with Fraunhofer IFAM, offers, among other things, training to become an Adhesive Bonding Practitioner (EAB). This one-week course provides a basic understanding of adhesive bonding, enabling practitioners to perform bonding tasks professionally and independently in practice. During our last course, we accompanied a participant and asked him to share his impressions of the course.

Danny Schäffer provided us with many fascinating insights from the perspective of a course participant. He works as a project manager and representative of the technical director at MLK GmbH. To test plastic seams, he needs specialist knowledge and qualifications in adhesive bonding – which is why he attended the last Adhesive Bonding Practitioner course.

Right at the beginning of the course, he stated: "I hadn't imagined the fundamentals of plastics would be so comprehensive. I was very impressed by the depth and complexity of the subject matter – and especially by the fact that Buruk Sen actually covered all of it."
The first important point he took away for his future practical application was the importance of surface treatment. If the surface is not properly pretreated, this can lead to significant errors, even if the rest of the bonding is performed correctly.

In the adhesive bonding courses, emphasis is placed on ensuring the best possible combination of theory and practice. Therefore, a practical session takes place every afternoon, allowing participants to practically apply what they have learned in the morning. Danny Schäffer's key insight from the internship was that all tests and bonding operations follow a specific procedure that must be followed. While this may seem very complex at first glance and involves many steps, if you stick to it, nothing will stand in the way of a successful bond. During the internship, he also realized how many details need to be observed when bonding: For example, some adhesives last for ages, while others must be disposed of very quickly.

The diversity of Innotech Marketing und Konfektion Rot GmbH in the field of bonding and sealing is characterized primarily by its very broad and constantly evolving product portfolio. This also results in the experience that enables it to continually develop new and customized customer solutions. This knowledge and experience is imparted to all participants in the best possible way during the courses.

Despite the complex content, Danny Schäffer wasn't worried about passing the exam. He felt very well prepared because the relevant content for the theoretical and practical exams was reviewed. His intuition proved him right, as he successfully completed his exams on the last day of training and can now call himself a "DVS® / EWF - Adhesive Bonding Practitioner (EAB)."

Congratulations to Danny Schäffer and all other participants on passing their exams!
