Using adhesive tapes correctly needs to be learned!
Participants in our EAS and EAE courses, as well as others, often ask whether it's possible to learn more about adhesive tapes, their properties, and how they are applied, than is currently available in the certification courses.
For most highly stressed structural joints, pressure-sensitive adhesives are still inferior to structural adhesives such as epoxies, acrylates, or polyurethanes.
However, for many semi-structural applications, modern products from adhesive tape manufacturers are often sufficient. These include, for example, the assembly of protective strips, damping and stiffening elements, or exterior mirrors in automotive construction, applications in window and facade construction, or mirror bonding in furniture construction.
In 2019, the standard DVS 3320-2:2019-01, Quality Requirements in Pressure-sensitive Adhesive Tape Applications for Permanent Adhesive Bonds, was published. It is consistent with DIN 2304-1 (now superseded by DIN EN ISO 21368) Adhesive Technology - Quality Requirements for Adhesive Processes - Part 1: Bonding Process Chain, published in March 2016, and clarifies, supplements, and explains where specific regulations are necessary in the application area of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes. The "Adhesive Tape Bonder" training course for adhesive tape users (or ATB for short) builds on this standard.
Innotech is pleased to be participating as a cooperation partner in the "Adhesive Tape Bonder" course. Look forward to an exciting course with theoretical and practical content on the topic of adhesive tapes.
Register today! We look forward to welcoming you in November.
Fundamentals of Adhesive Bonding Technology
We begin on November 3rd with a course day on the fundamentals of Adhesive Bonding Technology for ATB, which can serve as a refresher for EAS or EAE, or is recommended as an introduction for participants without extensive prior knowledge of adhesive bonding technology:
- Introduction: Advantages and limitations of adhesive bonding technology; How adhesives work
- Fundamentals: Points to consider when processing adhesives; Quality management for bonding processes
- Parts to be joined: Materials (especially metals, plastics, glass); Surface treatment
The Adhesive Tape Bonder course will take place on November 4th and 5th 2026
- Adhesive Tape Bonder: Theoretical instruction (content based on DVS 3320-2)
- Structure and properties of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes
- Manufacture of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes
- Processing of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes
- Characterization and testing of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes and the bonds produced with them, practical exercises on processing and testing methods, written assessment
