Gluing fun facts: Did you know that the impressive terracotta warriors from the Qin Dynasty are actually glued?
The figures, which were created over 2000 years ago, often consist of up to 80 individual parts. Since their discovery in 1974, they have had to be carefully restored. Using modern bonding techniques such as epoxy resin, the fragments are put together and stabilised in order to extend the life of these unique cultural monuments. Adapting the adhesives to the climatic conditions and the fragility of the terracotta is particularly challenging.
This example impressively demonstrates how adhesive technologies can preserve history - a combination of innovation and tradition!
