Adhesive Practitioner Video Diary: Day 1 – Theory, Practice & Initial Experiments

On the first day, we started with the basics of adhesive bonding technology – including an exciting experiment!

This was covered on the first day:

Theory:
✅ Advantages & disadvantages of adhesive bonding technology compared to other joining methods
✅ Wetting and its critical importance
✅ Physical vs. chemical processes
✅ Occupational safety: Many adhesives, primers, and cleaners are hazardous substances – what do you need to be aware of?

Practice:
The water drop test – a simple experiment that shows how differently materials react to adhesives and how surface tension affects bondability. This was followed by the first bonding experiments!

Day 2 of the Adhesive Practitioner Video Diary: New Adhesive Families & Practical Tests

After a brief recap of Day 1, we delved deeper into the different adhesive families.

Theoretical Highlights of the Day:
✅ Classification of adhesives by curing type
✅ Chemically curing adhesives
✅ Polyaddition adhesives: Polyurethanes & epoxies
✅ Polycondensation adhesives: Silicones & SMP adhesives

Practical:
New bondings & reviewing the results from the previous day.

New knowledge, new tests – insights into Day 3 of the Adhesive Bonding Practitioner course!

After the daily review, it was time to delve deeper: adhesive families with exciting variations!

What was covered today?

Theory:
✅ Polymerization adhesives – their properties & applications
✅ Physically setting adhesives – how they work
✅ Pressure-sensitive adhesives – the adhesives without setting and their special features

Practice:
New bonding experiments, exciting tests, and real “aha” moments when testing the bonded joints!

Day 4 of the Adhesive Bonding Practitioner Video Diary – Practice, Exams & the Big Review!

The week is progressing, and day 4 was all about practical exams, quality assurance, and a general review of what was learned.

What awaited the participants on day 4?

New theoretical content:
✅ Surface pretreatment & preparation – Why clean & activated surfaces are crucial
✅ Quality assurance – How do we ensure that an adhesive bond lasts long-term?
✅ Material types, e.g., focus on metals & plastics: Structure and differences in the type of surface pretreatment
✅ Aging of adhesive bonds and materials

Practical review & lessons learned in the afternoon:
All completed experiments were analyzed in detail. What worked? What didn't? What improvements are possible?

The big review focused on:
Internalizing everything learned, clarifying any open questions, and optimally preparing for the next challenge – the written exam. With open-ended training at Innotech for maximum learning success.

Day 5 of our adhesive bonding practitioner video diary – The big exam day!

After an intensive week full of theory, practice, and revision, the time had finally come: exam day! The participants had to put their knowledge to the test – but thanks to the targeted preparation at Innotech, their chances were excellent!

The schedule for the exam day:

Morning: Briefing & written exam
✅ Briefing: How does the exam work? What rules apply?
✅ Written exam with 20 multiple-choice questions (duration: 1 hour)
✅ Special feature: On-site marking – participants receive their results immediately

Oral exam:
✅ Conducted in groups of two
✅ Examined by an external examiner, an assessor, and a note-taker
✅ Duration: Approx. 15 minutes per person
✅ Focus on knowledge transfer in the technical discussion
✅ Participants with exam anxiety or who have to travel a long distance may go first

The big moment: Certificate presentation!
After the final oral exam, the ceremonial conclusion follows – the presentation of the certificates.

An intensive but successful day! Thanks to the numerous revisions and the general review, the candidates were well prepared.
