Effect of the bead diameter on the bead length
Example using a 310ml cartridge
BEAD VOLUME (310 ML CARTRIDGE)
Bead diameter 1.6 mm → Bead length 154.15 m
Bead diameter 2.4 mm → Caterpillar length 68.52 m
Bead diameter 3.2 mm → Caterpillar length 38.54 m Caterpillar Bead diameter 4.8 mm → Caterpillar length 17.13 m
Nozzle openings
That's why various nozzle openings are needed
One of the most important variables when dispensing an adhesive or sealant is the correct nozzle for the required application. Especially to ensure precise repeatability, the use of a pre-cut nozzle is recommended. The user's own cutting is usually not precise enough to achieve reliable repeatability.
In addition, the choice of nozzle should be tailored to the application. For example, there are special V-joint nozzles for inserting windows in vehicle construction, many variants of slot nozzles for surface application, extra-long nozzles for applying to hard-to-reach areas, and rotating nozzles to enable adhesive application on angled surfaces. Metal nozzles are primarily used for applying hot melt adhesives and for coating rough surfaces.
The use of such special nozzles alone can achieve a significant increase in efficiency. For example, wide-application nozzles up to 40cm wide are used when laying parquet floors. The user therefore needs much less time to apply the adhesive.
For micro-dosing from standard cartridges, there are also closed nozzles that can be opened to the required diameter using a heated needle. With the correct nozzle opening, it is also possible to optimize the dispensing amount and direct it to where the adhesive is needed. This also prevents waste.
V-Notch Nozzles
With V-notch nozzles, triangular beads are applied, which optimally adapt to the foot part tolerances.
Flat and surface nozzles
For surface bonding, such as when laying wooden floors, the use of special flat and surface nozzles is recommended. The adhesive user does not need to lay individual beads, trowel, or spread the adhesive, thus saving valuable working time. In addition, the use of flat and surface nozzles achieves a more uniform layer thickness, making the adhesive application more precise, safer, and reproducible.
Here you can see the diverse selection of flat and wide-angle nozzles that we have found for you worldwide and included in our range.
